Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that care and look after of special persons is the hallmark of a healthy society. He said that Punjab government is taking effective measures for the rehabilitation of special persons so that they could lead their lives in an honourable and dignified manner and emerge as useful citizens through utilizing their God-gifted qualities.
In his message on International Day of Special Persons, the Chief Minister said that special persons should not be called disabled as they possess more qualities than normal persons and if provided opportunities they can play an effective role for the progress and development of the country. He said that special persons have proved their mettle in Pakistan as well as all over the world, however, there is a need for promoting public awareness regarding this important segment of the society. He said that special children can be made useful citizens of the society through proper education and training.
Shahbaz Sharif said that government has taken a number of measures for the rehabilitation of special persons and children and make them active members of the society. He said that all out resources are being utilized for the rehabilitation of special persons. He said that free education, uniform, transport facility as well as technical training is being imparted to deaf and blind children in special education centers set up throughout the province. He said that every citizen will have to play his due role for ensuring due rights and a respectable status to special persons in the society.
Shahbaz Sharif met Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad AlThani in Doha on Tuesday. It was agreed in the meeting to promote relations between Pakistan and Qatar and expand economic and trade ties between the two countries. The Emir of Qatar announced investment in various sectors of development besides cooperation of his country in elimination of energy crisis in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is a friendly country of Qatar and all out cooperation will be extended for resolving its problems. He said that Qatar is deeply interested in progress and stability of Pakistan. He further said that besides meeting gas requirements of Pakistan, Qatar will also cooperate in agriculture, power generation and skilled manpower sectors.
The Emir of Qatar further said that his country is fully aware of the problems being faced by Pakistan in energy sector and will extend maximum cooperation for ridding its Pakistani brethren of the shortage of power. He said that Qatar is ready to welcome skilled and experienced persons from Pakistan in various sectors. The Emir of Qatar further said that his country highly appreciates recent efforts made by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the strengthening of Pak-Qatar friendship.
Talking to Amir of Qatar, Shahbaz Sharif said that Qatar is extending commendable cooperation to Pakistan in resolving energy crisis and it is hoped that Pakistan will be able to overcome load-shedding with the help of its friendly countries. He said that Allah Almighty has blessed Pakistani people with brains, talent and qualities and Qatar should benefit from manpower of Pakistan on priority basis. He especially thanked Amir of Qatar for extending support to Pakistan on international economic forums.
Later, Shahbaz Sharif met Foreign Minister of Qatar Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammad Al-Attiyah. The Foreign Minister of Qatar while talking to Shahbaz Sharif said that Qatar-Pak relations have been stagnant and desired results have not been achieved from these ties. He said it is a matter of satisfaction that a new era of Pak-Qatar friendship has started under the leadership Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and its positive impact will soon be visible in both the countries. He said that cooperation between Qatar and Pakistan will further increase in different sectors in future. He said that there is a vast scope of cooperation between Qatar and Pakistan in energy, human resource, manpower, agriculture and other sectors.
He said that Qatar is fully aware of Pakistan’s importance and role in the region and the government, leadership and people of Qatar want to see Pakistan a prosperous and developed country. The Chief Minister said that Pakistan highly values cooperation of Qatar and other friendly countries in different sectors. He said that steps being taken by Qatar to promote trade and economic ties with Pakistan are commendable. Federal Minister of Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Musaddaq Malik and Ambassador of Pakistan in Qatar Shahzad Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
