The country's export of tobacco dipped by 18 percent to $4.804 million in July-October 2014-15, according to official figures. The tobacco export declined by $1.029 million in July-October 2014-15 from $5.833 million in the same period last fiscal year to $4.804 million, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
In term of volume, tobacco export fell by 528 metric tons (19 percent) to 1,447 metric tons in July-October 2014-15 from 1,975 metric tons in the same period last fiscal year. However, tobacco export grew by $168,000 (24 percent) to $876,000 in October 2014 as compared to export of $708,000 in October 2013, the statistics showed. Similarly, tobacco export volume also showed a growth of (23 percent) to 321 metric tons in October 2014, as compared to the tobacco export of 261 metric tons in October 2013.
