Rebate on wheat: PFMA hails government's decision

Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) has welcomed the decision of the Pakistan government of giving rebate on 1.2 million tons of wheat and wheat products for ensuring export of the commodity. PFMA Central Chairman Asim Raza Ahmad in a statement issued here on Friday welcomed the decision of the government and said it would help in consuming the extra wheat.

He said that decision of the government to extend a subsidy of US 55 dollars per ton on wheat and wheat products equal to 800,000 tons to be exported from Punjab and a US 45 dollars per ton subsidy on export of 400,000 tons of wheat and wheat products from Sindh through land and sea routes would enable the provincial departments to clear their godowns and make room for the coming procurements. In his message he claimed that the government has also imposed ban on import of wheat products. This act will facilitate the farmers of wheat and enable government to procure maximum wheat of upcoming wheat crop, he concluded.
