Provincial Minister for Law, Excise, Taxation and Finance Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman on Friday said there was a wide range of mutual trade between Punjab and Iran and Punjab could expand its export in rice, fruits, vegetables, meat and other sectors.
The minister expressed these views while reviewing chances of enhancing trade between Punjab and Iran at Punjab Business and Investment Trade Board. The meeting was attended by high ranking officials of Industries, Agriculture, Livestock and Dairy Development, Energy and other concerned departments. He said that Pakistan and Iran were brotherly countries and having rich cultural heritage and common traditions, adding, bilateral relations had become stronger with the passage of time.
The minister said in result of visits of Chief Minister Punjab, Iranian traders had invested in Punjab and interested for further investment in various sectors. He said that the Punjab government was providing maximum facilities to the foreign investors for trade and investment, and an autonomous institution had been set up for the guidance and help of the traders community.
“Iran is our friendly country and we will welcome the Iranian companies to invest in public welfare projects,” he said and added the Punjab government had given top priority to attract foreign investment in the province and the concept of public-private partnership had been promoted through good governance and economic cooperation programme.
He said the foreign investment companies of Turkey, China and other friendly countries were investing in Punjab, whereas exchange of students and trade delegations would further expand the trade between friendly countries and Punjab.
