A division bench of Sindh High Court headed by Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi has asked Ministry of Industries and Production (MOIP) and Establishment Division to submit comments on a petition seeking regularisation of PSM contractual employees.
During the hearing of CP 5069/14 filed by chief law officer of Pakistan Steel Mills against Establishment division and PSM management, counsel for the petitioner Chaudhry Latif Sagar submitted some public documents before the court which states that a summary of 314 PSM contractual employees has already been sent to prime minister for extension in service and another summary has been submitted to Establishment Division for regularisation.
The court gives serious consideration to the documents submitted by Advocate Latif Sagar. The court turned down the plea of PSM counsel for dismissing the petition for being non-maintainable. The court observed that prima-facie the petitioner has been discriminated under article 25 of constitution of Pakistan as the other 313 contractual employees were still working in PSM.
The court asked Establishment Division and Ministry of MoIP submit comments on the already submitted summaries in 2012 and 2014 for the regularisation of contractual employees of PSM within two week. The court further extended the stay order till December 15, 2014.
