Prices of most of the essential kitchen items remained on high side last week as compared to the preceding week, reveals a survey conducted byBusiness Recorder on Saturday. The survey noted increase in the prices of chicken live, eggs, pulses, fresh vegetables last week as compared by the preceding week.
Chicken live was being sold at Rs 145 per kg against Rs 140 per kg week past price, registering an increase of Rs 5 per kg, eggs were available at Rs 115-120 per dozen against Rs 110 week past price, reflecting an increase of Rs 5-10 per dozen, pulse Moong washed was being sold at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 150 week past price, reflecting an increase of Rs 10 per kg, pulse Masoor washed was being sold at Rs 140-145 per kg against Rs 135 per kg week past price, registering an increase of Rs 5-10 per kg, pulse mash washed was available at Rs 165-170 per kg against Rs 162 per kg week past price, reflecting an increase of Rs 3-7 per kg last week as compared to the preceding week.
During the period under review tomatoes were being sold at Rs 60-65 per kg against Rs 50-55 per kg week past price, registering an increase of Rs 10 per kg, green chili was being sold at Rs 80-90 per kg against Rs 75 per kg week past price, registering an increase of Rs 5-10 per kg. However, onions and potatoes prices almost remained stable during last week as compared to preceding week as onions were being sold at Rs 45-50 per kg while potatoes were available at Rs 75-80 per kg.
Meanwhile, mixed trend was witnessed in fresh vegetables prices as considerable increase was noted in the prices of some items while prices of others remained change last week as compared to the preceding week. As cabbage was being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 60-65 per kg week past price , registering an increase of Rs 5-10 per kg, Shimla /Kashmiri Mirch was being sold at Rs 130-140 per kg against Rs 90-100 per kg week past price, registering an increase of Rs 40 per kg, brinjal (Baigan) was available at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 45 per kg week past price, registering an increase of Rs 5 per kg, green peas was being sold at Rs 120-130 per kg. However, vegetables prices remained unchanged during the period under review that included Kareal which was available at Rs 70 per kg, okra being sold at Rs 90-100 per kg, cucumber at Rs 80 per kg, garlic at Rs 160-180 per kg last week as compared to the preceding week.
Besides, considerable increase was also witnessed in some fruit prices as banana was being sold at Rs 80-90 per dozen against Rs 60-80 per dozen week past price, registering an increase of Rs 10-20 per dozen, apples were being sold at Rs 100-120 per kg, grapes at Rs 150-200 per kg, guava at Rs 100 per kg, pomegranate at Rs 120-150 per kg, persimmon (japani phal) was being sold at Rs 70-80 per kg during the period under review.
During the period under review mutton and beef prices remained stable as mutton was being sold at Rs 620 -650 per kg, beef at Rs 380-420 per kg, cooking oil tin (2.5 ltr) at Rs 520, vegetable ghee tin 2.5 kg was being sold at Rs 505, vegetable gee loose at Rs 160 per kg and sugar at Rs 57-60 per kg.

However, onions and potatoes prices almost remained stable during last week as compared to preceding week as onions were being sold at Rs 45-50 per kg while potatoes were available at Rs 75-80 per kg.
