The City Council on Tuesday adopted an
ordinance to add community gardens as a permitted land use in all zoning
districts.
It was developed through the Land Use
Committee’s Urban Agriculture Task Force with the goal of supporting a
quality-of-life issue. A community garden is neighborhood-based and the purpose
is to grow plants for beautification, education, recreation, community
distribution or personal use. Sites will be managed by an individual or group.
