KARACHI - Chief Minister Sindh
Syed Qaim Ali Shah has announced that Benazir Bhutto International University
of Veterinary and Animal Sciences would be established, having its main campus
at Sakrand and Larkana. This he said while chairing a high level meeting
regarding the establishment of University at C.M House today. The meeting was
attended by Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Muhammad Ayaz
Soomro, Minister for Agriculture Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, Additional Chief
Secretary (P&D) Malik Israr, Principal Secretary to C.M Agha Jan Akhtar,
Vice Chancellor Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam, Mr. A.Q Mughal,
Secretary Education Sindh Mr. Muhammad Siddique Memon, Secretary Agriculture
Mr. Aijaz Ali Khan, Secretary Works & Services Alamuddin Bullo, Secretary
Livestock Mr. Laiq Memon and others. Chief Minister Sindh constituted a
Steering Committee comprising of Additional Chief Secretary (P&D),
Secretaries of Livestock, Finance, Agriculture, Works and Services department,
Vice Chancellor Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam, Senior Member Board of
Revenue, Member (Land Utilization) and Deputy Commissioners of Larkana and
Shaheed Benazirabad to formulate the modalities and formalities for
identification of suitable land, preparation of PC (1), appointment of Vice.
Chancellor, Registrar and other staff. It was decided that until the
establishment of separate building for University, temporary classes will be
started in Agriculture training institute Sakrand and Quaid-e-Awam Agriculture
Research Institute Larkana where 50% seats will be allocated for male and 50%
for female candidates. Chief Minister Sindh permitted the committee for
preparation and presentation of university charter. It was further decided that
the scheme for establishment of university campuses will be included in next
financial year’s annual development programme. CM Sindh directed the steering
committee to identify and allocate at least 2 hundred acres of suitable land at
prime location for each campus for having a permanent building for the
university.Syed Qaim Ali Shah added that decision to establish Shaheed Benazir
Bhutto International University of Veterinary and Animal services has been
taken under the guide lines and directives of the President of Pakistan who has
keen interest in this project, therefore all the required formalities and
procedures should be completed without any delay. Earlier, Secretary
Education Sindh Mr. Siddique Memon, while briefing the meeting said that Higher
Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan veterinary medical council’s
guidelines, policies, rules and regulations will be strictly followed so that
required standard could be maintained. Vice Chancellor Sindh Agriculture
University Tando Jam Dr. A.Q Mughal assured the meeting for providing expertise
and all technical support.
