Area agriculture calendar for May 20
Meet the Horses Day, sponsored by York County
SPCA, will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 2 at South Branch Farm. Adoptable horses,
as seen on Pet Finder and ycspca.org, will be shown. Family fun includes pony
rides, face painting; refreshments will be available.

Please note: Bridge on Reynolds Mill Road, between Water Street and Twin Arches
Road, is closed. You must come through Jacobus, Valley Road to Reynolds Mill
Road to enter South Branch Farm.
2012 City Garden Tour, sponsored by York City Recreation &
Parks and The Garden Club of York, will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 9. The City
Garden Tour features homes in the neighborhood setting of Springdale and
Springettsbury Avenue in the City of York. This year's garden tour will feature
ponds and great patios, community vegetable gardens, therapeutic gardens and
native plants as well as the newly developed Gold Star Garden at Memorial Park
Complex.
Enjoy free hors d'oeuvres prepared by the
chef's of the Culinary Art Institute and wine sampling or a fresh tea prepared
by the Women's Club of York. Wear your favorite garden hat and participate in
the best, most creative garden hat competition.
Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 the day of the event. Tickets can be
purchased in advance at City Offices located at 101 S. George St., York.
Proceeds will benefit York City Recreation & Parks and The Garden Club of

Airville Hitchin' Rail 4-H Horse Club meets 7 p.m. the
second Tuesday of every month at Muddy Creek Meadows Riding Stable, 699 Frosty
Hill Road, Delta. Youth need to bring a notebook and a pen or pencil. 4-H horse
clubs provide educational opportunities but do not provide horses or riding lessons.
This and all 4-H programs are available to all youth between the ages of 8 and
18 as of Jan. 1 of the current year, regardless of ancestry, color, disability
or handicap, national origin, race, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation or

Williams Grove Farmers Flea Market, hosted by Williams Grove Historical Steam
Engine Association, is open sunrise to 2 p.m. every Sunday, weather permitting
throughout the year, at Williams Grove Steam Engine Show Grounds, Williams
Grove Road, Williams Grove. All vendors must have and display a current
Pennsylvania sales tax license. Admission and parking are free. For details,

Farmers Open Air Market is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Tuesday
and Friday through November at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo
Center, Cameron and Maclay streets, Harrisburg. New and returning vendors will
offer a variety of in-season fruits and vegetables, dairy products, bakery
items, cut flowers and bedding plants for purchase. For details, call

The 4-H Beef Club meets 7 p.m. the first Monday of
each month at the 4-H Center in West Manchester Township. The 4-H Club is open
to all youths 8 to 18 years old as of January. New members are welcome. Call

Adams County Beef Producers meet the first Tuesday of each month.
Membership is $20 a year and applications can be obtained through Angie Young
at 717-337-3758. All interested individuals are welcome to join.
