The Jackson County Conservation District is hosting a visit on Jan. 22 from the director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Jamie Clover Adams will speak about the impact and importance of agriculture around the state and in Jackson County as well as taking questions from the audience at the conservation district’s annual meeting.
Adams was appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder in July 2012. She most recently served as the director of policy for the state’s Quality of Life Group. From 1999 to 2003 Adams served as the secretary of the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
The event starts at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Gene Davis and Sons Banquet and Convention Center, 3575 Francis St. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and music will be provided by the Village Square Acoustics.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $13 for adults and $7 for children ages 12 and younger. Registration ends Jan. 16.
