Its going to be a long hot summer
characterized by drought in many parts of the country, meaning the price of
agricultural commodities is likely to rise along with the few small cap
agriculture stocks out there like CHS Inc. (NASDAQ: CHSCP), S&W
Seed Company (NASDAQ: SANW) and Alico Inc. (NASDAQ: ALCO). After all,
crop yields usually decline during dry weather and especially droughts.
Moreover, events like European debt crises and China slowdowns tend to not have
much of an impact on agriculture prices – at least compared with the impact of
the weather (and no-one, not even the Fed, can control the weather). So do
small cap agriculture stocks like CHS Inc. (CHSCP), S&W Seed Company (SANW)
and Alico Inc. (ALCO) offer something for investors as the summer temperatures
heat up? Here is a quick look at all three:
