A delegation from the government of St Eustatius visited Nevis last week for talks on agriculture.
The delegation was led by Carlyle Tearr, the Commissioner of Agriculture on St Eustatius, who met with Nevis Agriculture Minister Alexis Jeffers on a one-day trip.
“They have come to meet with us and speak with us regarding ways by which we can collaborate as sister islands,” Jeffers said in a statement. “You know we have an ongoing trade with the folks in Statia and they have come to ensure they are able to continue those trades and also to find other ways by which we can develop future trade as well.”
Jeffers said a Nevisian delegation could eventually reciprocate and visit Statis “to see what they are doing there and what we can gain from what we are doing there to implement here in Nevis.”
Tearr said the trip sought to “renew our ties and basically enhance what we are actually doing in providing a better future for both islands in terms of cooperation in Agriculture.”
He was joined on the trip by Simon Dijkshoom, director of economy and infrastructure in St Eustatius
