Clarke says no instability at agriculture ministry

Speaking in the Senate on Friday, Opposition Senator, Dr Christopher Tufton, said the instability resulted from changes in key positions since the change of administrations in December 2011.

Claiming that there were at least five changes in the top-tier leadership of the Agro-Invest Corporation over the past 16 months, Tufton questioned the impact of the implementation of agro-parks, the agency’s flagship programme.

However, while confirming that six persons have left the agency over the past year, Clarke maintains that the agency has been performing well.

Clarke has explained that it was Dr Marc Panton who chose not to renew his contract as Chief Technical Director in his ministry.

However, he says the ministry could not advertise for the position to be filled before Panton's departure on April 30.

The agriculture minister believes Tufton has been personal in his criticisms.
