Agricultural inputs distributed among 800 farmers in Lower Dir

To improve the poor socio-economic status of small growers, the district administration of Lower Dir distributed free agricultural inputs including certified Maize seeds and fertilisers among 800 small growers of Lower Dir. The intervention on part of the Lower Dir administration would help restore livelihood of poor and small growers as well as boost up crop productivity in the region.

Deputy Commissioner Lower Dir Muhammad Zubair inaugurated distribution of agriculture inputs, said in a press release issued by Malakand Development Programme here on Thursday. According to release, two separate inputs distribution ceremonies were held at Model Farm Services Center Timergara and at office of Chakdara Agriculture Department, wherein 800 farmers from different parts of the district were granted Maize seeds and quality fertilisers.

In Timergara Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zubair and in Chakdara Assistant Commissioner Altaf Husain handed over these inputs to farmers hailing from Timergara, Samar Bagh, Lal Qila Maidan and Adenzai Sub-divisions, respectively, who are registered with Farm Services Centers (FSCs) as well. Field Co-ordinator MDP Iftikhar Ali Khan, Agriculture Deptt official and scores of growers were also present in the event. On one hand the move would help revive livelihood opportunities for many while on the other hand it will improve agriculture production in the aforesaid areas.

Addressing the occasion Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zubair stressed the growers to utilise the inputs in an appropriate manner and act upon the suggestions of Agriculture experts so as to achieve the desired goals. They hoped that the government's endeavours will help restored agriculture sector and will raise economic condition of the affected growers in the district.
