Miami, OK -Shannon Cunningham, a nine-year
agriculture instructor for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, was recently
selected to receive the Honorary State FFA Degree.
This award is given to those who advance in
agriculture education and the State FFA organization through outstanding
personal commitment.
Cunningham earned an associate's degree from
NEO in 2000 and then went on to be an instructor there for nine years.
At Oklahoma State University, she earned a
bachelor's degree in animal science in 2002. Working forward, Cunningham
received a master's degree from the University of Arkansas in 2006. Currently,
she is completing her Ph.D. in agriculture education at OSU.
"I am so honored to receive this
recognition," Cunningham said in a press release. "Recipients of the
Honorary State F-F-A Degree are nominated by F-F-A Agriculture educators across
the state, so I was surprised and humbled that I had been nominated for the
award," she said. "It truly means more than I can express that these
educators across the state feel that my contributions have been important and
are worthy of recognition."
In addition to Cunningham's numerous
accomplishments, she is also a horse judging coach, department chair of
agriculture on the NEO campus, has assisted in writing and winning a grant for
American Quarter Horse Association International Horsemanship Camp, and founded
and helped direct the NEO Aggie Alumni and Friends Association.
