Minister inspects facilities at agricultural engineering college


The Minister inspected classrooms, computer centre, workshops, food processing laboratory and irrigation park of the college.
Agriculture Minister S. Damodaran visited the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Kumulur, and inspected various facilities available.
The Minister inspected classrooms, computer centre, workshops, food processing laboratory and irrigation park of the college. J.Sekar, Joint Director of Agriculture, accompanied the Minister.
A.Tajuddin, Dean of the college, explained and narrated various activities and research projects of college to Mr. Damodaran.
The workings of tractor-operated multipurpose hoist, engine operated weeder, tractor drawn weeder, improved coconut tree climber and tamarind shell huller were demonstrated to the Minister Mr.Damodaran appreciated the efforts taken by scientists of the college in fulfilling felt needs of farmers by carrying out need based applied research.
T. Pandiarajan, Associate Professor and Head, demonstrated various food processing equipment to the Minister.
D. Jayakumar, Professor (soil science) and P. Masilamani, Associate Professor (seed technology) explained the breeder seed production activities of this college.
K.Nagarajan, Associate Professor (soil water conservation) and S. Somasundaram, Assistant Professor (agronomy) demonstrated different irrigation technologies including surface and sub-surface drip, sprinkler and raingun.
