University of Agriculture Faisalabad likely
to set up a cattle market (Mall Mandi) at Narwala Road Bypass aiming at
steering the local farmers out of middlemen's exploitation and enable them to
sell their cattle directly to the customers.
This was stated by UAF Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan (SI) while chairing the Finance & Planning Committee of the University at New Syndicate Hall. During the meeting, it was decided to create a pension fund with seed-money of five million rupees. The meeting decided to make students paid work compulsory to equip them with hands on work experience after segregating the contingent paid staff budget into 60-40 ratio for students and daily paid labour.
The committee expressed great concerns over uphill utility charges and was of the view to arrest the rising trend by keeping a vigilant eye on electricity usage at various residential hostels and colonies. The committee urged the university management to introduce some corner cutting mechanism so as to avert financial paucity and raise its own resources.
Addressing the House, UAF VC Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said despite very difficult time of financial crunch, UAF was fortunate enough to get approved its mega project of 502 million rupees by the Planning Commission of Pakistan for upgradation of UAF sub campus at T T Singh. He said that UAF management was striving hard to put in place a state of the art microbiology lab with the financial assistance of IDB and USDA.
