Angola: Agriculture Ministry Discusses Economic Benefits of Family Vegetable Plots



Luanda — The Ministry of Agriculture (Minagri) is holding this Tuesday in Luanda a forum on economic, social and environmental benefits of family vegetable plots in Angola.

The event will debate, among other issues, the experience of producing food of high nutritional values in urban and peri-urban zones, using small places, recycled materials and clean, fast and effective cultivation methods.

This initiative is part of the project dubbed "Urban and peri-urban vegetable plotiting to reduce poverty and malnutrition in Angola", financed by the UNDP and jointly implemented by the governmental partners (Minagri, Minars, Minfamu) and civil society, technically assisted by FAO.

According to a press note that reached Angop on Monday, the event will count on the participation of FAO international consultant and coordinator of Urban and Peri-urban agriculture for Latin America, the Colombian Hernan Marulanda.
